I Reflection Day on Social Housing
I Reflection Day on Social Housing
“Those things that unstabilize a person, is not as much to have a job and economical income, but to have a home where he is permited to root.” With this words Mr. Manuel Lecha, president of Fundació Mambré, strarted the “First day of reflection on Social Housing” organized by Mambré Foundation.

During the conference, to which 70 people assisted being workers of the five organizations (Fundació Mambré, Ordre Hospitalari de Sant Joan de Déu, Arrels Fundació, Centre d’Acollida Assís y la Companyia de les Filles de la Caritat), collaborators and volunteers, was discussed over the different experiences on social housing at national and European international level, over the actual housing typologies, to reach a consensus on a common nomenclature, and finally over the present and future needs.

The meeting ended with renewed hopes to continue working, and with new questions over the table that will have to be solved slowly. In short a new document will be done public and it will gather the Conclusions of the Conference. One of the aspects on which there was an emphatic unanimity is the statement that the actual model of hostels and pensions has become obsolete. As Mr. Lecha explains, the lack is “realism to create a social housing model that creates homes and gives responses”.

During the meeting conference, the press department of Arrels made a report with an interview to Mr. Manuel Lecha and to three residents of Home Ronda, that will encourage you to look up their web.
